The Ethics of Judicial Appointments I

The panel will explore the ethics (including conventions) of judicial appointments in the context of the different processes used in parts of the United States and Australia. A common theme will be the role and validity of political considerations in the process of appointments. Panellists will also consider the input of the legal profession and other judges in judicial appointments, and the effect that a politicised appointments process might have on the conduct and ethics of the judges themselves.
