Cognitive-Behavioral Brief Treatment of Children and Adults

  • I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Nationally Certified Psychoanalyst. I have treated adults, children, adolescents, couples and groups for over 15 years in both private and public practice. I received a post-graduate certificate in Psychoanalysis and a post-graduate certificate in Spiritual Psychotherapy from the Blanton-Peale Institute (2002). I conduct a Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training group in my private practice. I am a Utilization Reviewer and trainer for Bridging Access to Care at its mental health center and substance abuse clinics, where I also provided individual and group supervision. I have taught at Adelphi University, Hunter College, and New York University courses such as Diagnosis and Assessment; Crisis Intervention, Brief Psychodynamic Treatment, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy; and Research II. I introduce DBT mindfulness exercises to MSW students and other beginning clinicians as a self-care and clinical education strategy. My interests gravitate toward assisting practicing clinicians and students with personal and professional self-care and how these can be implemented into organizations and the educational curriculum. The consistent theme in my work is related to the strengths and growing areas in organizations, the social work curriculum, and in the helping professional him or herself, and how these ultimately affect clients.
