Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Students in class

From Promise to Progress: A Message from the Dean

Fordham Law was founded to expand opportunity for those who have traditionally been excluded from the legal profession. At the same time, we have significantly more work to do—especially now—to truly ensure that all of our students, particularly those from underrepresented communities, experience a learning environment that is supportive and free from bias.

Moving forward requires deep reflection on our past and thoughtful collaboration among students, faculty, and administration about our present and future. In June we made a commitment to work along three paths to address structural racism in our own community and to combat racism in society more generally.

We are 1) increasing diversity and supporting our students, 2) making Fordham Law welcoming and inclusive, and 3) addressing racism in the legal system and our community.

To date, we have raised more than three million dollars to support these efforts. The philanthropic support of our partners is critical to the actions we are taking to make Fordham Law School more diverse, equitable, and inclusive and to combat racism in our community, the legal profession, and our nation.

While we have taken important steps along these paths, they are only the beginning of a way forward toward making our community, our profession, and our society racially just, equitable, and inclusive.
