M.A. in Mental Health Counseling & Spiritual Integration

In keeping with the Jesuit principle of cura personalis, or care of the whole person, the M.A. in mental health counseling & spiritual integration program integrates state-of-the-art mental health counseling training with a solid foundation in theology and spirituality.
In addition to studying psychosocial assessment, diagnosis, professional ethics, and clinical intervention, you’ll take courses in pastoral counseling, and spiritual care.
Whether you are called to be a mental health counselor, therapist, pastoral minister, or chaplain, you’ll be equipped to provide therapeutic services in faith-based contexts.
Program Highlights
- Graduates will be eligible to apply for licensure as a mental health counselor in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and several other U.S. states.
- You will gain hands-on experience in a supervised clinical internship working with individuals and groups as a professional counselor.
- You will have the opportunity to work closely with a faculty adviser.
Program Basics
- The curriculum requires satisfactory completion of 20 courses (60 semester credits), including nine credits of clinical internship/field placement.
- You may pursue the program either as a full-time or part-time student.
- A capstone clinical case paper that demonstrates practical and theoretical learning is required.
