Our primary graphic identity symbol combines the name of the University set in the Fordham font, Bernhard Modern BT, with the great seal of the University and the tagline, “The Jesuit University of New York.”

Consider the Context

When space is limited, please use an alternative Fordham wordmark. The University seal will not reproduce well smaller than 1” height. The tagline becomes illegible smaller than 2.5” width.

College, Division, and Center Wordmarks

Colleges, schools, centers, and organizations are secondary units and each has a designed wordmark for use in its marketing materials. They build on each individual unit’s association with Fordham University.

The secondary wordmark is comprised of two parts divided by a small vertical rule: first, the name of the University set in the Fordham font, Bernhard Modern BT, with the great seal of the University and the tagline, “The Jesuit University of New York” (when appropriate); and secondly, the name of the college or school set in Minion (Fordham’s primary serif font), or the name of the center or organization set in Whitney (Fordham’s primary sans-serif font).

Usage Guidelines

  • Wordmarks may only appear in Fordham maroon and black, or in black only. Do not reproduce the wordmarks in any other color.
  • The wordmarks may also be knocked out of a Fordham maroon or black background. Do not set the white (reverse) version of the wordmark against any color but maroon or black.
  • Clear space minimum requirements = 1x the height. Clear space requirements must be observed at any reproduction size.
  • The elements—University name, great seal, tagline, college/department/center name —are provided as a lockup and should not be separated. Do not typeset the wordmark yourself.
  • Wordmarks are easily stretched or distorted when pasted and resized in other software programs such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. Please contact marketing@fordham.edu for help in resizing.
  • Please do not add anything to the University or college, division, and center wordmarks. Additional words, graphics, and symbols are unacceptable.
