The Fordham Academic Preparatory Institute is an intensive academic language program aimed at equipping young learners with the cultural competency, study skills and language proficiency they need to succeed in American universities and beyond. Participants learn the basics of composing a personal essay, conducting research, and sitting an interview, and are introduced to the teaching methodologies widely used in American academic settings, including content- and project-based learning techniques. Targeting promising, creative and ambitious young minds, the program enhances English proficiency while cultivating expertise that will be critical in participants' future academic and professional lives.
If you are not a United States citizen or legal resident and are in or will enter the United States as a non-immigrant, you may need a visa to join an IALC immersion program, including the IALC Summer and Winter Institute, the IALC Winter Holiday Institute, or the Fordham Academic Preparatory Institute. A student (F-1) visa is not required. Participants typically use a B-2 or B-1 visa depending on their particular interests, or, for qualified countries, the visa waiver program (ESTA).
