Certificate in Not-for-Profit Bookkeeping and Reporting
Starting January 17, 2019
Every organization, including Not-for-Profit organizations, must maintain appropriate and accurate financial records in order to report its activities in a reliable and timely manner. As with any organization, the job of maintaining the records and reporting on an organization’s financial activities falls on both internal and external individuals and professionals commonly categorized as bookkeepers.
This is a first-of-its-kind certificate program in not-for-profit (NFP) bookkeeping and reporting. Whether you are new to NFP bookkeeping or want to improve your skills in NFP bookkeeping this intense and comprehensive three-course program will cover a wide array of bookkeeping and accounting concepts and principles unique to maintaining the books and records of a typical NFP organization.
It is ideal for those who know the essentials of bookkeeping and have some basic experience with it. By the time the program is completed, an individual will be able to handle the normal bookkeeping- and accounting-related duties and tasks required of a small to moderately sized NFP organization.
The three courses will cover everything from learning basic accounting concepts to setting up a set of books and using QuickBooks, to budget development, donor and grant reporting, accounting for payroll and employee benefits, accounting for investments, complying with New York State's Nonprofit Revitalization Act of 2013, and preparing basic financial statements. At the end of the program, you will receive a certificate of completion.
