Bronze Medical Plan

Adjuncts are eligible beginning of the month after the date of hire, or if hired on the first of the month, eligible on the first of the month.

The Plan is administered by UnitedHealthcare covers both in-network and out-of-network care, with lower costs for in-network providers. The plan covers the full cost of eligible prescription drugs, subject to the medical deductible below. The plan covers the full cost of eligible in-network preventive care, with no deductible and no coinsurance. For non-preventive care, you share a portion of the cost as follows:

Fordham University Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan

The Fordham University Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (TDA) is designated for voluntary contributions made by the employee. All employees are eligible to contribute to the TDA Plan without a waiting period. The voluntary contributions to the TDA Plan are unmatched and are subject to the IRS limits for individual annual contribution amounts. The TDA Plan also allows after-tax or Roth contributions. Contributions to either or both plans can be made to investment options offered by TIAA and Fidelity Investments.

Health Benefit (Part-time CBA)

FSA Health Benefit for Fordham adjuncts: The University will pay in full a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for all part-time instructors starting this spring 2023. This will be based on a calendar-year lookback.

1 course taught in 2022: $300
2 courses: $400
3 courses: $500
4 courses: $500

This FSA is in addition to compensation and is not taxed.

Leave and Disability Management

If you are expecting to be out of work for a period of at least five consecutive business days or intend to take an intermittent leave, you must follow the procedures below for reporting your leave:

  • Employees must provide supervisors and Human Resources with at least 30 days notice of intent to file a claim for leave of absence when foreseeable; in emergency situations, as soon as possible. Faculty members must notify their department and the Provost’s office.
  • Notice of leave of absence requests can be sent to Human Resources at [email protected]
  • Call MetLife Leave Management at 888-762-2347, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; or
