Campus Ministry Welcomes New Students

Welcome to Campus Ministry!

Letter from the Executive Director of Campus Ministry, Fr. Lito, SJ

January 1, 2021

Welcome to Fordham, members of Class of 2024 and new transfer students!

We in Campus Ministry are truly excited that you will be joining us in a few weeks, in person or virtually. The Spring 2021 semester will be unprecedented in its challenges, but we will endeavor to adjust to the necessary changes to minister to your needs. Your safety and well-being in this time of Covid-19 will be our priority even as we invite you to “Go F.A.R.” with us in hope-filled expectation of our shared future. Together, we’ll set our sights on developing an intelligent Faith, discerning right Action, and thriving on Reflection to advance justice and reconciliation in human society and in our common home.

Rooted in our Catholic, Jesuit identity, Campus Ministry is committed to fostering your spiritual and religious life, regardless of your denomination or faith tradition, or if you have yet to explore one. This can only happen if we also adhere to health and safety practices when we gather as community: keep to safe-distancing, mask- wearing, hand-sanitizing, and daily health check-up. You will not be left out if you choose to stay at home. We will aim to extend our presence virtually when we provide these offerings:

  • Sacramental and liturgical life: weekday and Sunday Mass, choirs, and seasonal celebrations;

  • Spiritual retreats: student-led prayer and reflection on weekday evenings and weekends;

  • Personal accompaniment: grief counselling, spiritual conversations, and spiritual direction;

  • Spirituality and community: Ignatian Yoga, Centering Prayer, Zen, multi-faith fellowships

    (Muslim, Jewish, Orthodox Christian, Reformed Church), Christian Life Communities, Praise &

    Worship, LGBTQ+ (devOut, Prism), Humanitarian, Pro-Life, and many others.

  • Spirituality and solidarity: conversations and encounters to explore and build common ground

    on these issues: anti-racism; faith and culture; economic, social and environmental justice; etc.

Below is the Campus Ministry brochure which will acquaint you with our programs. For more information about events, worship schedules, and opportunities to get involved, you can visit us on Facebook at Fordham Campus Ministry, Instagram or our website, fordham.edu/cm.

Again, we are delighted to welcome you and look forward to getting to know you virtually and in person. Campus Ministry is here to accompany you as you Go F.A.R. at Fordham!

In God’s grace and peace,

Rev. José Luis (Lito) Salazar, SJ Executive Director of Campus Ministry
