Medical Services

The Health Center offers a host of medical services for the Fordham community:

Primary Care

University Health Services is available to meet the health care needs of students at Fordham University. Our goal is to keep you well, help you get the care you need when you are not, and to empower you to make informed decisions about your health. In addition, you'll learn how to:

  • Deal with an illness or injury.
  • To recognize when you need to seek help for a health problem.
  • How to become an effective health care consumer so that you can make informed decisions.
  • Where to get information to assist you in making informed health care decisions.

Student Health Services provides direct care, individual health counseling, and health teaching. Small group workshops on common health interests of the students occur throughout the year. All registered students can receive health care services.

Medical records are strictly confidential and are not part of the academic records. Medical records are used exclusively by University Health Services to provide personalized care. Any information regarding a visit to the University Health Services will not be released without written permission from the individual treated.  Immunization records are an exception and are not confidential since your immunization status must be made available to state inspectors and select University offices in order to comply with New York State law.  We must reports certain communicable diseases to NYS DOH as required by law.

Allergy Health Clinic

Allergy injections can be administered under the supervision of a nurse practitioner or physician as indicated by the referring allergist. We have allergy forms that must be completed by the allergist and student before we can administer injections. Students should bring their serum, dose schedule and all related forms to the University Health Services.  We have a temperature regulated refrigerator at both offices to store allergy serum.  Allergy serum will not be administered without the above information.

Visits are by appointment only.

Laboratory Test and X-rays

We provide both in house laboratory testing (ex. rapid strep, rapid mono, rapid flu, urinalysis, etc.) and outside laboratory testing via Quest and Labcorp. Students can request a receipt for charges incurred at the University Health Services. The University Health Services does not participate in insurances and we do not bill insurances.  The student is responsible for providing insurance information for outside laboratory services through Quest and Labcorp.

Laboratory Specimens can be sent out to Labcorp or Quest Laboratory depending on student’s in-network policy. Students are responsible for any laboratory bills based on their health insurance coverage.

If needed, we refer to a local outside radiology facility for xrays.
