Summer Compliance Institute

June 5, 12, and 19, 2021 | 9:00AM - 1:00PM EDT

In our Summer Compliance Institute, you will learn from expert faculty about the major regulatory frameworks governing corporations in the United States, how corporate compliance programs can protect companies against legal and reputational risks, and how cultures of compliance create value for companies, investors, and stakeholders alike.

Who is this for? This program is aimed at anyone who would like to learn the basics of corporate compliance. It is open to and beneficial for those in or outside of the U.S. with or without a law degree


  • $500 for the whole program; or
  • $200 each day.
  • Participants who enroll in our MSL or LLM in Corporate Compliance program by the Fall 2022 term will have this amount applied to their tuition.

Certificate. Participants attending the full program will receive an electronic certificate of completion.

Saturday, June 5

Module 1: Overview of Key Risk Areas*

This module will cover the key risk areas that are of particular importance to compliance programs, including: bribery and corruption, money laundering, sanctions, privacy & cybersecurity, and conflicts of interest.

Module 2: Legal Frameworks* 

This module will cover sentencing guidelines, enforcement frameworks, DOJ evaluations of corporate compliance programs, and other federal agencies involved in setting compliance standards.

Module 3: The Structure of Compliance 

In this module participants will be introduced to the operational structure of a corporate compliance program. They will learn about the role of a compliance officer, reporting structures, key partnerships, and the skills needed for success.

Module 4: Risk Assessment and Assurance

Risk assessment is a key part of any compliance program. This module will cover the basics of how a risk assessment is done, how to manage risk, and risk assurance.

Module 5: Cultures of Compliance 

Company culture plays a critical role in managing a company’s legal and regulatory risks. This module examines best practices in creating a “culture of compliance” and explores how enforcement authorities evaluate culture.

Module 6: ESG Investing and Compliance 

The drive for performance across all environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions is transforming the role of the corporation in society. This module explores these changes and what they mean for ethics and compliance officers.
