Fordham London: Liberal Arts

The London Liberal Arts program offers students the opportunity to take major, minor, and core courses at Fordham London in Art History, Communications, Economics, English Literature, Film and TV, History, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Theatre, and Theology as well as one module (course) offered at Queen Mary, University of London (Fall Only); City University; or University of Westminster. Students enroll in the equivalent of 15-18 US credits.

Second semester sophomores will take all of their courses at Fordham London.

Gabelli School of Business Electives

Students are eligible to enroll in one course offered in the GSB London program to satisfy Business Administration minor requirements:

• Financial Management (3 Credits)
• Legal Frameworks of Business (3 Credits)
• Marketing Principles (3 Credits)

British Universities

Students may opt to take 1 course (module) at one of our three partner universities in London. These direct enroll courses (modules) offer students the experience of studying within the British system. For a listing of possible modules available at the various universities in London, please select the links below. Please note that 10 UK credits are generally equivalent to 3 credits at Fordham and 15 UK credits are generally equivalent to 4 credits at Fordham. Students who enroll in one of these modules will not pay additional tuition.

Please note that the British university academic calendar is different from Fordham's, so in the spring semester particularly the term will begin earlier and end later than a semester at Fordham. For precise dates, please review the information at each university's link below.

Fordham London offers the opportunity to enroll in for-credit internships in partnership with local companies and organizations in a Fall, Spring, or Summer semester. Students intern concurrently while taking classes, and are enrolled in a required internship seminar. Internships are available in a variety of fields including fashion, consulting, non-profit management, environmental consulting, law, and politics. Students also have the opportunity to source their own internships, subject to approval by Fordham London.

Fordham London is located in the Borough of Camden in Central London, in a neighborhood called Clerkenwell.

The United Kingdom—England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland—is a diverse place full of contrasts, featuring a wide range of landscapes and cultures. London, the largest city in Europe, is a bustling cosmopolitan center of astonishing variety and interest that a visitor could explore for months without turning over every stone. The other regions of the U.K. are fascinating for their own reasons, each with a unique personality and history.

While based at Fordham London, students may choose to venture from Cornwall in the far west to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland in the north. Cities such as Edinburgh, York, Durham, Chester, and Canterbury are reachable by an excellent rail network, as are areas of great natural beauty, such as the Lake District, the New Forest, and North Wales. And it’s only a quick trip to the Republic of Ireland or France, Spain, and Italy in continental Europe.

Students are housed in shared student residences in residential areas in Zone 1 or 2, both of which offer a commute by public transport to classes at Fordham London and your chosen host university. The residences have self-catering facilities with a shared lounge. All of our housing is centrally located within London, in areas with shops and transportation and within reach of city attractions. The London experience begins with a comprehensive orientation that acquaints students with health, housing, travel, academic, and safety information. Program costs typically include co-curricular activities in and around the city of London and one long weekend visit to another European country.

The Fall semester runs from approximately the end of August through mid-December, and the Spring semester runs from approximately the beginning of January through the beginning of May.
