Janet Gallent, Ph.D., has more than 20 years of professional experience in the media industry. Prior to joining the faculty in the communication and media management area, she was the senior vice president of consumer insights and innovation research at NBCUniversal and head of the company’s state of the art research lab at Universal Orlando Theme Park. She has led custom research projects for clients across the portfolio, including NBCUniversal’s entertainment, news and sports divisions. Her work has informed business decisions and strategies across all areas of the business, including marketing, advertising sales, programming and business development. She was an active member of Nielsen’s Council for Research Excellence, where she chaired the Media Consumption and Engagement Committee for several years. Gallent has a doctorate and master’s in communication and education from Columbia University’s Teachers College, a master’s in communication arts from The University of Wisconsin at Madison, and a bachelor’s degree in public communication from Cornell University.
