From Advocacy To Policy-Making: Environmental Justice and the Cross-Bronx Expressway

On August 25th, students and staff gather to highlight and discuss the Cross Bronx Expressway Campaign, led by Nilka Martell, founder and director of Loving the Bronx. Discussions were made on re-imagining the CrossBronx Initiative, its impacts on surrounding communities, the role of advocacy in shaping policy, and the challenges in developing effective strategies to influence policy.   

The Panel also featured Dr. Salihah Dick, Asthma Program Manager at the Bureau, Bronx Neighborhood Health, and NYC Health; Paul Philps, Director of the Bronx Office for the Department of City Planning; and Víctor Martínez, senior policy advisor for Ritchie Torres, and the U.S. representative for New York’s 15th congressional district.
