Beyond the fundamentals of Latin American history and culture, you might dive into specific areas with courses like Latin American Archaeology, where you’ll explore the Pre-Columbian civilizations and cultures of the Caribbean, Mesoamerica, South America; or Queer Caribbean and Its Diasporas, where you’ll examine the role and representations of queer culture in the Caribbean throughout history.

You’ll be prepared for a wide range of career paths in fields such as international relations, business, foreign policy, teaching, publishing, and social work. You’ll also be uniquely qualified to pursue advanced study or attend law or medical school.

At Fordham, you’ll use AI as a tool to enhance your learning. Our program will equip you with the skills to navigate the ever-changing landscape of AI in the workforce. As a Latin American and Latino studies major, you might conduct research into the role of racial bias in AI, or examine Spanish data sets used to train AI models, preparing you for high-growth roles in areas like linguistic data analysis. 

You’ll also be able to earn credentials and paid micro-internships through IBM SkillsBuild’s Getting Started with AI course. All Fordham students and graduates have access to AI training through RamConnect, the University’s alumni and experiential learning platform.
