Consumer Law Advocates (CLA)

Consumer Law Advocates (CLA) raises awareness about the legal issues surrounding the field of consumer debt and works with the Feerick Center for Social Justice to recruit, train, and support student volunteers who serve through the Consumer Legal Advice and Resource Office (CLARO) Program, a free, weekly walk-in court-based clinic assisting consumers being sued by creditors in civil court. Currently, CLARO Program clinics are operating in Bronx and Richmond (Staten Island) Counties, with plans for New York (Manhattan) County to reopen during the academic year.
