Biological Sciences Major

Majors are required to take courses from the three groups of courses listed. For all courses in the major, C- is the minimum accepted grade.

Core Courses

  • BISC 1403 - Introductory Biology I and BISC 1413 - Introductory Biology Lab I
  • BISC 1404 - Introductory Biology II and BISC 1414 - Introductory Biology Lab II
  • BISC 2539 - General Genetics and BISC 2549 General Genetics Lab
  • BISC 2561 - Ecology and BISC 2571 Ecology Lab

Distribution Courses - any two of the seven courses below

  • BISC 3221 - Human Anatomy and BISC 3231 - Human Anatomy Lab
  • BISC 3232 - Human Physiology and BISC 3242 - Human Physiology Lab
  • BISC 3405 - Plant Biology and BISC 3415 - Plant Biology Lab
  • BISC 3521 - Biochemistry
  • BISC 3643 - Microbiology and BISC 3653 - Microbiology Lab
  • BISC 3752 - Molecular Biology
  • BISC 3754 - Cell Biology

Elective Courses - a choice of one for the BA degree or three for the BS

Any of the distribution courses among those not taken to fulfill the distribution requirement or any other biology courses above the 1400 level offered by the department.
