How to Apply to Fordham GSS as a Non-Degree/Non-Matriculated Student

  1. Set up an online account and submit an application.
  2. Once you are in the application you may use this as a guide:
    • Select: GSS Degree Program: Master of Social Work
    • GSS Academic Interest: select the term in which you would like to take the course
    • Select non-degree/non-matriculated as your matriculation type
    • Select the campus in which you wish to study: Lincoln Center (Manhattan), Molloy University (Rockville Centre), Westchester.  Note: we do not currently offer non-matriculated study in the online MSW campus.
    • Enter your demographic , contact, and citizenship information.
    • Official, final transcript from undergraduate studies is required.  Skip to the Colleges and Universities section.  Enter the name of the college or university that you graduated from.  Please order the official, final transcript to be sent to us at [email protected], or if hard copy is the only option, please have it mailed to:
      • GSS Office of Admission
        Fordham University
        113 W. 60th Street, Suite 608
        New York, NY 10023
  3. Statement of Purpose: please explain in 1to 2 paragraphs why you would like to begin graduate studies as a non-matriculated student.  If you had academic difficulties in the past, please contextualize the reason why, and what measures you now have in place to be successful in your classes.  In contrast, if you are interested in taking courses post-MSW to meet licensure requirements please let us know how many courses or credits you need to earn.
  4. Application fee. There is an application fee of $60.  If you later apply to the MSW degree program we will be happy to offer you an application fee waiver at that time.

Please note the following: Students who take non-matriculated classes should be advised that the Office of Admission will require all grades from non-matriculated coursework to be submitted by the student at the end of the term before an application for matriculation will become complete.  This may delay your admission decision until the course grades have been posted by your professor.  In addition, completing non-matriculated coursework does not guarantee admission to the MSW program.

5. Submit the application.

Note: You do not need to upload a copy of your resume, a personal statement, or letters of recommendation if you are applying for non-degree study.

After submission, we will process your application and direct you to the correct Student Services contact for your registration process.

Once your application has been processed, you will be assigned a Fordham ID number, and you can set up your fordham.edu account, which is your portal to all things Fordham. The fordham.edu login link is on our main webpage at www.fordham.edu

You will receive a statement (tuition bill) approximately 10 days after you have been registered for class.

Please let us know in the Office of Admission if you have any questions by contacting us at either [email protected] or (212) 636-6600.
