The Fordham Graduate School of Social Service UN NGO Student Internship Program offers graduate students a unique opportunity to engage in macro social work at the global level.

The program also serves as a platform for sharing conference information, resources, and collaborative opportunities with the public, alumni, and partner institutions.  By bridging education, practice, and global engagement, the Fordham GSS UN NGO Student Internship Program strengthens social work’s impact on pressing global issues.

Fordham GSS UN Internship Conferences

Fordham GSS UN Student Interns coordinated and hosted a parallel event for the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), Global Perspectives in Women’s Healthcare. The event was held in collaboration with the International Health Awareness Network (IHAN). The discussion explored important issues such as maternal health, migrant health, and environmental factors shaping women’s wellbeing.

Two Fordham UN Student Interns Selected to 2026 NYSSWEA Board

The Graduate School of Social Service is proud to announce that two of our Master of Social Work (MSW) students have been selected to serve as student board members for the New York State Social Work Education Association (NYSSWEA).

Adam Jason Neufeld MSW ’26 and Maria Talloni-Perlett MSW ’26 will serve alongside fellow board member and GSS Associate Dean Elaine Congress, DSW; as well as NYSSWEA Board of Directors members and GSS alumnae Joanna Suppa MSW ’08 and Stephanie Blackwell MSW ’24.

Scenes from Social Work at the UN Day 2025

On Friday, April 4, 2025, social workers, students, educators, and international delegates gathered at United Nations Headquarters in New York City to celebrate the Annual Social Work Day at the UN. Under the theme “Looking Back to Move Forward,” this year’s program reflected on the profession’s global legacy while exploring pathways to a just and sustainable future.

Co-hosting with the Graduate School of Social Service were the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), and International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW. The event brought together thought leaders and advocates from across the world for a dynamic morning of reflection, dialogue, and inspiration.

Fordham MSW United Nations Interns Showcase International Social Work Skills

Fordham Graduate School of Social Service Professor Elaine Congress, D.S.W., presented with four Fordham MSW students in March 2025 at the Eastern Psychological Association conference in New York City.

The presentation, titled “Preparing Graduate Students for International Careers – Fordham University United Nations Placement,” detailed the Fordham GSS United Nations internship experience.

The 2026 Fordham GSS UN Student Intern Annual Newsletter features 15 articles by 11 contributors and was led by 2 student editors.
