GSE Non-Matriculated Students
The Graduate School of Education encourages individuals not enrolled in a degree program to take courses as non-matriculated students.
Note: A non-matriculated application must be completed for each term non-matriculated coursework is being taken.

Non-Matriculated Student Guidelines
You must provide proof of the following:
- Earned a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. A copy of your diploma or transcript is acceptable.
- Proof of identity, in the form of a government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.)
- Course approval from an academic advisor for your courses. You will have an opportunity to meet with an advisor during our in-person registration hours.
Non-Matriculated Student Status
- Prospective students and current applicants for future terms are encouraged to take Graduate School of Education classes as non-matriculated students.
- In-person registration dates for non-matriculated students occur regularly just prior to the start of a new academic term.
- Undergraduate seniors already enrolled at Fordham University, whose programs do not require their full-time attendance, may register as non-matriculated students; written consent from the GSE Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and their school's Dean is required. A maximum of six credits will be allowed.
- If individuals are already accepted to another Fordham academic program, they must take an official leave of absence from or withdraw from the program prior to seeking non-matriculated status in the Graduate School of Education.
- Applicants that have been denied admission to the Graduate School of Education are not eligible to enroll as non-matriculated students.
- Non-matriculated students who want to drop or add a course must contact the admissions office (212-636-6400), and follow the GSE calendar for deadline dates and university policy for refunds.
Credit Limit, Course Limitations
- The Graduate School of Education provides opportunities for non-matriculated students to take a course for any of our three academic terms: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
- Non-matriculated students must register themselves for classes after getting course approval from a faculty member and a confirmation email with registration instructions from the GSE admissions office.
- As a non-matriculated student, you may not register for more than 12 credit hours.
- Enrollment as a non-matriculated student does not imply acceptance to or eligibility for any degree program in the Graduate School of Education.
- Courses taken as a non-matriculated student do not automatically count toward a graduate degree program.
- Non-matriculated students are not eligible to take advanced level courses (level 7000 or higher), courses requiring pre- or co-requisites, independent studies, tutorials, any field placement or practica, or those reserved for a cohort group.
Tuition and Fees
Non-matriculated students pay the regular tuition rate plus the following additional fees:
- University General Fee: $81 per term, Fall and Spring only
- GSE TK20 Assessment Fee: $100 one-time-only fee, assessed at the time of first registration
- Technology Access Fee: $206 per term, Fall and Spring only
Financial Aid and Scholarships
- Non-matriculated students are not eligible for Graduate School of Education scholarships or graduate assistantships.
- Non-matriculated students are not eligible for federal financial aid.
Financial Responsibility Agreement
- Beginning with 2017 summer registration, all students who register for new course work will be required to electronically sign (e-sign) a Financial Responsibility Agreement (FRA). Colleges and universities increasingly use such agreements to make sure students understand their financial obligation to the institution.
- A Financial Responsibility Agreement is a disclosure agreement between you and Fordham University that states that you agree to pay all charges that result from your registration and services you receive from the university. You will be asked to acknowledge that you understand that you are responsible to pay for all charges associated with your attendance and where applicable, residence costs at the university.
- If you refuse to sign the form, your enrollment will be subject to cancellation since you are not agreeing to pay the charges which you incur as a result of the services you receive at Fordham.

For your convenience, we offer various payment methods which will assist you in paying your tuition. The payment options include: electronic; credit cards; checks and money orders; in person; third party billing; wire transfer (both domestic and international); monthly payment plan; tuition reimbursement; tuition stabilization plan; and tuition remission.
The Fordham University Monthly Payment Plan, offered by Tuition Management Systems, is a payment plan by which a student or parent, guardian, or sponsor of a student can make monthly payments for out-of-pocket expenses. For more information, please visit the payment plan website. The plan features:
- Ten monthly payments (for full-year plan)
- Five monthly payments (for term-only plan)
- Access (everyone qualifies)
- Low-cost enrollment fee
- Flexibility (Plan may be established for any amount)
- The University's refund policies and procedures ensure equitable refunds to students who withdraw from all or a portion of their studies or when payment is in excess of the total charges.

Health Insurance Waiver
If you already have health insurance coverage that meets Fordham’s policy standard minimum insurance requirements*, you may apply to waive enrollment in the Fordham plan.
