Valerie Serpe, PhD, is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education and a Faculty Associate of the Center for Catholic School Leadership and Faith-Based Education. Drawing on more than three decades of PK–12 experience, she brings a practitioner’s perspective to the preparation of current and aspiring educational leaders, with an emphasis on connecting leadership theory and research to purposeful practice.

Prior to joining the Fordham faculty, Serpe served in a variety of educational leadership roles in public and Catholic education, including as the founding Head of School of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School of Long Island, a dual-language, dual-campus PK–8 school. In that role, she partnered with Boston College’s Two-Way Immersion Network for Catholic Schools and the University of Notre Dame’s Latino Enrollment Institute to develop an innovative school model grounded in family partnerships, dual-language education, and the Jesuit principle of cura personalis. Her teaching and professional interests include instructional leadership, organizational change, critical issues in educational leadership, Catholic and faith-based education, and family and community engagement.
