What is Aurora?
Aurora is an e-learning platform where graduate students can explore career options and learn job search strategies as they navigate employment options within and beyond academia. Aurora’s self-paced modules include two programs of study - academic careers and professional careers - that empower students to make informed decisions about their career paths and learn successful job search strategies from Ph.D.s who have leveraged their degrees into a range of growing industries.
How Do I Access Aurora?
Access to Aurora is available to all current students (Master’s and Ph.D.) enrolled in Fordham University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS). Students will regularly receive links to access the platform via e-mail communications from the Graduate School. If you have not received access via your Fordham-affiliated e-mail account, please email the GSAS Futures team at [email protected] to request access.
What’s Inside Aurora?
- Two programs of study: academic careers and professional careers
- An extensive video library featuring over 80 hours of interviews with Ph.D.s working in all sectors: academia, government, higher education administration, and non-profits
- Content relevant to students across disciplines - including STEM fields, humanities, social sciences, and biological life sciences
- Workbooks and worksheets to support career exploration, planning, and management
- Access to live and on-demand webinars that cover topics relevant to graduate student career development

Beyond the Professoriate’s mission is to empower Ph.D.s to build impactful careers and engaged lives, wherever smart people are needed.
