This list of resources was created to provide information to parents/families of ELLs in supporting the social emotional needs of their children during and after the COVID-19 crisis.

Ages 2-8

PBS for Kids - Thirteen

This site provides parents/families with an array of activities for children ages 2-8 supporting social-emotional and academic growth. Information about how to support children through the Corona crisis is also addressed.

Ages 1-26

Include NYC

INCLUDEnyc is the leading provider of training and information for young people with any disability (age 0-26) in New York City, their families, and the professionals who support them. They create access to educational, employment, and independent living opportunities, and advocate with families for meaningful inclusion in the broader community.

This site provides insights and advice on common concerns and tips for facing challenges many families share in English and Spanish.

Colorin colorado

Colorin Colorado is bilingual site for educators and families of English Language learners. It is a national multimedia project that offers a wealth of bilingual, research-based information and resources such as blogs, videos and books, etc.

Committee for Children

This site is a blog for parents to obtain information about social emotional learning.

Common Sense

This site engages families and communities with helpful tips and tools to support their children to thrive as learners, leaders and citizens in the digital age. Resources available in Spanish and English.

Confident Parents Confident Kids

This site is focused on skills promotion and prevention, not on problems. Problems will be addressed but in a way that uses the situation as a "teachable moment" for the child and the whole family. In short, suggestions are meant to be used right away and easily to support you in optimizing your child's social and emotional learning AND family's connectedness.

National PTA

This site provides information on the COVID-19 virus and an array of resources on social-emotional, special education, health and safety.


Parent Toolkit is a one-stop resource developed with parents in mind. It's produced by NBC News Learn and supported by Pearson and includes information about almost every aspect of your child's development, because they're all connected. Resources available in English and Spanish.

New York State Social Emotional Learning Benchmarks

This document informs families what the goals and the components of Social Emotional Learning skills are. These skills enable one to handle stress, control impulses, and motivate oneself to preserve and work well with others when faced with personal, academic, or work-related obstacles.
