NYS/NYC Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network
Our mission is to assist networks, schools and districts across all five boroughs in creating professional learning communities centered on English language learner issues.
26th Annual Symposium on Children's and Young Adult Literature
We hope you can join us at this upcoming event scheduled for May 19th, The 26th Annual Symposium on Children's and Young Adult Literature at the Instituto Cervantes, the Spanish language and cultural center. It represents a collaboration of the NYC RBERN at Fordham University, The NYS Language RBERN at NYU and the New York City Department of Education.
We offer professional development in the areas of:
- literacy instruction
- early childhood programs
- content area instruction
- school improvement
- compliance including program models and organization
In addition, we collaborate with education and advocacy organizations serving New York City teachers, administrators, students and families. We also provide institutes and seminars augmented by on-site school support and guided by our constituents across the city.
Based on performance data, we invite schools to participate in our Collaborative Accountability Initiative. Together, the partners plan professional development for schools regarding ELL education.
Hands-on Involvement in Schools
Fordham GSE and The Center for Educational Partnerships are committed to hands-on involvement in schools and to maintaining the unique character of our local communities.
Toward that end we have offices in the Bronx and Manhattan, which bring our expertise close to our school partners. Each office provides meeting space and offers specialized resources.
Bilingual Team Members
Our team members are bilingual and are experienced in meeting academic, linguistic, and affective needs of English language learners. To ensure fidelity to our mission and our contract as well as to provide high-quality services, a principal investigator and evaluator works closely with the Fordham RBE-RN. The Fordham RBE-RN benefits from overall supervision by Associate Dean Anita Vazquez Batisti, PhD.
Fordham University's Graduate School of Education Center for Educational Partnerships, under the leadership of Dean Virginia Roach, EdD and Associate Dean/Director Anita Vazquez Batisti, PhD, was awarded the NYC Regional Bilingual ESL Resource Network contract from the New York State Education Department Office of Bilingual Education and Foreign Language Studies.
