O’Connell Initiative Research Grant Awardees
Support for Graduate Student Research
O’Connell Travel Grant
The O’Connell Initiative in the Global History of Capitalism invites applications for the O’Connell Travel Grant for graduate student research ($1000) that requires archival consultation abroad or elsewhere in the United States. The grant is open to all Fordham graduate students at both the MA and PhD levels. It supports research across all historical fields and geographic areas. Priority will be given to research that promotes interdisciplinarity grounded in historical research, engages with the many dimensions of the capitalist revolution, and advances new understanding of its social, economic, and ecological consequences.
A formal application and final report on outcomes are required. Grant recipients are expected to participate in the seminars, lectures, and events organized by the O’Connell Initiative. The travel grants are not renewable.
The application should include a 3-page proposal, CV, and budget.
Please send applications and curriculum vitae to Rosemary Wakeman, email@example.com, Director of the O’Connell Initiative Steering Committee.
Deadline: November 15, 2016
O’Connell Support for Graduate Student Reading and Working Groups
The Initiative also supports graduate student reading and working groups that provide a setting for discussion on specific aspects of the history of global capitalism. Ideas for initiatives should be discussed beforehand with the Director of Graduate Studies. Applications should include the topic, purpose, participants, and outcomes of the group.
The O’Connell Initiative in the Global History of Capitalism is supported by a generous gift by Fordham alumnus and History major Robert O’Connell.
