Afrah Bandagi and her research partner, Madeline Hilf, examined how religion and spirituality inform the lives of activists working with migrants at the United States-Mexico border. Afrah first became interested in the global immigration crisis when she was involved with refugee work in Jordan. Bandagi and Hilf's project culminated in an online database consisting of video interviews with activists and organizations.

Madeline Hilf volunteered at the Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Service in East Harlem. Hilf and her research partner, Afrah Bandagi, explored the role of faith in the lives of migrants at the United States-Mexico border.

Benedict Reilly (FCRH 2023)
“Urban Religion: A Walking Tour” (public event)
Major: Theology and Humanitarian Studies
Benedict Reilly explored perspectives on spirituality in neighborhoods near Fordham’s Rose Hill campus for his Duffy Fellow project. Reilly's research focused on the holiness of certain places with a particular attention to the Bronx. He presented his findings through a web-based map and a walking tour of the Belmont and Fordham neighborhoods.

Samantha Sclafani (FCLC 2022)
“Instagram Ethics: Catholic Social Teaching and Social Media Activism” (research presentation)
Major: Theology and Political Science
Samantha Sclafani focused on the relationship between Catholic Social Teaching and internet activism for her Duffy Fellow project. Sclafani investigated the practical applications of Catholic Social Teaching and religion and how they might positively inform contemporary social justice movements.
