The Gabelli School Integrated Business Core

Gabelli Logo MD

Nothing reflects the Gabelli School’s hands-on, integrated approach to business education more than its core curriculum. This program offers a comprehensive foundation in the key areas of business—accounting, economics, finance, information systems, management/strategy, and marketing. Alongside technical knowledge, students also develop the essential skills that define successful business leaders: innovation, creative problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, strong communication, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty.

Students begin their journey with The Ground Floor, a first-year course that introduces all major business disciplines. This course challenges students to apply their new knowledge by developing an original business venture—one that is both imaginative and practical, addressing a real-world need. Working in small teams, students strengthen their entrepreneurial thinking, business writing, and public speaking skills while gaining exposure to New York City through class-based projects.

Freshman Advising

At the Lincoln Center campus, your primary academic advisor will be Neve Devine, CPA, Assistant Dean of the Gabelli School of Business. You'll engage in required group advising sessions and have access to optional one-on-one academic consultations, ensuring that your experience is personalized and adaptable to your goals.

Throughout your time at Fordham, you’ll also benefit from the support of other Gabelli staff and administrators, including those focused on international programs and career development through our Personal and Professional Development Center.

Registration Information

Your academic advisor will contact you with detailed instructions for registration. As you create your schedule, consider your academic background, core curriculum requirements, and the preferences indicated in your Freshman Registration Survey.

If you need to make schedule changes later in the summer, contact your advisor. While changes are rare, we’ll do our best to accommodate you if you have a strong reason and space is available.

Some students may also be required to complete an online placement exam in Math and/or English.

Career Exploration

As part of your first-year experience, you’ll be guided by a Career Exploration professor who will help you build the professional development skills unique to Gabelli students. You’ll gain access to personalized career support—from resume-building and mock interviews to one-on-one coaching and exclusive internship opportunities.

Whether through Fordham’s career services or the powerful network of Gabelli alumni, you'll be connected to the tools and people who can open doors for your future. As you learn to present yourself professionally, secure interviews, and stand out to employers, we’ll be here to help you every step of the way. The rest is yours to achieve.

  • First-year students who wish to receive credit for AP exams, IB exams, and college courses completed at another college or university (not college courses provided at a high school) should make sure that transcripts are sent to the Office of Academic Records by August 1, but preferably sooner. This is critical, as future registration decisions depend upon the accurate posting of these scores. Please note that the College Board sometimes only sends some, not all, of the AP scores. You are responsible for checking your Fordham record to ensure that all scores have been transferred. Students will receive a letter in August that details the University’s policy on awarding AP credit. This letter also will identify which courses in the Gabelli School curriculum will be fulfilled with the awarded credit. College credit can not be awarded for courses taken at a high school even if these are college-level courses, taught by a college professor and under the administration of a local college.
