FAQ

  • Fordham seeks to develop an articulated university-wide strategy that defines institutional priorities, associated goals, and actions that support its success. Fordham’s strategic plan is "long-term" (approximately 5 years) and will be supported by operational and/or tactical planning.

  • The strategic planning process is led by the University President. A strategic planning coordinating committee comprised of members from across the university is responsible for engaging the Fordham community and gathering data that will inform articulated priorities for Fordham.

  • Our aim is to develop a strategic plan based on the collective input from a broad range of stakeholders, including but not limited to faculty, staff, students, and board members. The campus community will be involved in a qualitative process that includes (1) ongoing opportunities to submit ideas through the strategic planning website and (2) virtual and in-person meetings to share ideas and perspectives that shape the institution's priorities going forward.

  • Data from the website submissions and virtual and in-person meetings will be collated and analyzed to identify themes that will help inform the strategic plan. Consultants will collect and compile ideas and perspectives, review and categorize the data, and produce a summary of emerging themes.

  • The plan will be completed by December 2024 and presented to the Board of Trustees for their approval. View timeline.

  • The University will continue to build upon the important work of Educating for Justice and carry some of these initiatives forward in the new strategic plan (e.g., revision of the core curriculum, advancing the natural and applied sciences, etc.). Starting in 2025, the new plan will shape priorities for Fordham’s future.

  • This website will remain a primary source of information for strategic planning, including updates on the process, schedule of open sessions (virtual and in person), timeline, and opportunities to provide feedback, ideas, and perspective on institutional priorities.

  • The University is currently undertaking its Middle States re-accreditation, the Jesuit Mission Priority Examen, and a comprehensive brand research study. Key themes and identified priorities from the listening sessions, focus groups, and surveys will inform the strategic plan in meaningful ways.

  • Yes. A draft of the plan will be shared with the campus community in the fall semester for comment and discussion.

  • After the Strategic Plan has been approved by the Board of Trustees in December 2024, the President will charge an implementation planning committee with ensuring that Fordham successfully executes the strategic plan.
