Welcome to the Orthodox Christian Studies Center
The Orthodox Christian Studies Center serves as Fordham University's locus of all curricular, research, and outreach activities related to the interdisciplinary study of the Orthodox Christian traditions. With a thriving undergraduate minor in Orthodox Christian Studies, and active chapter of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF), and support for graduate students across the university, the Center supports scholarship, teaching, and student spiritual life in ways that are relevant public discourse, the ecclesial community, and the promotion of Christian unity.
Fordham is the only university in the United States that offers an undergraduate minor in Orthodox Christian Studies, supported by the Orthodox Christian Studies Center. The Orthodox Studies Minor is an interdisciplinary minor focusing on the faith, history, and cultural significance of the Orthodox Christian tradition. No matter what major you choose, critical study of the Orthodox Christian tradition offers insights and context for understanding some of the world’s most significant issues.
While the Center does not offer its own graduate program, it offers financial and academic support for a growing number of graduate students studying Orthodox Christianity from several disciplinary angles, such as theology, philosophy, and history. Numerous lectures, conferences, publication opportunities, and social events also contribute to Fordham's reputation as a top destination for the advanced study of Orthodox Christianity.
