Math and Computer & Information Sciences

This major, offered jointly by the Department of Computer and Information Sciences and the Department of Mathematics, is designed to give students the solid mathematical foundation necessary for a full understanding of computer and information sciences. The program requires careful reasoning and fosters a facility with ever-evolving technology, enhancing a student’s marketability.

The high degree of difficulty makes this joint major attractive to recruiters from various industries and prepares students for graduate studies in computer science and other applied quantitative fields.

Program Activities

Math and computer & information sciences majors are eligible for honors in both fields. Students majoring in mathematics and computer & information sciences are encouraged to pursue internships, but please note that such internships are not required and do not count toward the two electives in the major.
