Guiding Principles

Inclusiveness
Make certain that all stakeholders – faculty, staff, students, service recipients, and representatives from other units of the University – have meaningful opportunities to participate in and throughout the planning process.

Collegiality
Make certain that the contributions and involvement of participants in planning activities are valued and recognized. Create a safe space in which participants can provide honest opinions and feedback without fear of retribution or ridicule.

Congruence
Ensure that planning conversations and ultimately goals and initiatives link to core institutional processes such as budgeting, facilities planning, fundraising, admissions, and enrollment; to the planning activities and efforts by schools and administrative units; and in the case of local planning, to the mission, vision, strategic objectives and goals of Fordham’s Strategic Framework.
