ACSRI Guidelines For Proposals
Proposals should be no more than five (5) pages in length, excluding appendices or references, and must include the following sections:
- A concise statement of the goals and desired outcomes of the proposal, including the potential impact on the Fordham community if the goals are achieved.
- A clear explanation of the scientific, ethical, moral, historical, social, or environmental reasoning supporting the proposal. The rationale should describe how the proposed action aligns with Fordham’s mission and values and the direct impact it has on the community.
- ACSRI generally views engagement with investment advisors as the first and preferred approach to addressing investment-related concerns. Proposals advocating engagement should include specific examples or evidence demonstrating successful engagement strategies in similar cases. Proposals advocating divestment should include: (i) evidence or case studies showing instances where divestment has effectively addressed similar issues; (ii) a philosophical or theoretical framework explaining why divestment is the appropriate course of action; and (iii) an explanation of the direct impact of continued investment on the Fordham community. Any proposal with a projected financial loss must include an explanation of the loss and a justification demonstrating how the proposal delivers measurable non-financial value that outweighs the financial cost.
Submissions and questions can be sent via email to [email protected] or by completing the ACSRI Form.
