MISSION

How can we explore the use and development of AI through a Jesuit lens? The Ignatian AI Conference will convene Jesuit scholars, AI experts, and industry professionals to engage this question directly. Participants will develop a shared framework to support reflection, decision-making, and formation at Jesuit institutions worldwide, launching a broader Ignatian AI network.

Inspired by Magnifica Humanitas, the gathering will proceed in a synodal mode, shaped by communal discernment. This means attentive listening, honest exchange, and careful weighing of experience across contexts. Voices from across the Jesuit network—faculty, students, administrators, and leaders from the Jesuit Curia—will shape the conversation, keeping it grounded in practice and responsive to emerging challenges.

Plenary sessions will offer historical perspectives on how Jesuits have navigated moments of transformation, clear accounts of the current AI landscape, conversations with industry leaders, and connections to other faith-based programs for engaging with AI.

More than 60 breakout speakers will focus on a range of issues, including:

  • how AI impacts Jesuit pedagogy
  • AI’s relationship to justice, the environment, the workplace, and marginalized populations
  • how AI might change how we relate to God, ourselves, and one another

Our goal is to identify what it means to engage with AI in a way that is recognizably Ignatian—attentive, grounded, and accountable to the Society of Jesus’ larger mission.
