Learn how matter and energy interact—and the applications of that knowledge.
Physicists study matter, energy, and how they interact. Their research has led to awe-inducing insights about the nature of the universe—and to countless technological breakthroughs, from radiation cancer treatment to the smartphone in your hand. In the physics department at Fordham, we know how exciting the field is—and strive to prepare you to make your own contributions in a variety of technical careers.
You’ll learn a broad range of physics principles in classes, dedicated labs, research projects, and internships. Class sizes are small; we know get to know you well. You will join our explorations into applied optics, condensed matter physics, nanoelectronic device modeling, medical physics, nuclear physics, and other fields.
But you’ll learn more than physics here. You’ll also study philosophy, theology, history, literature, languages, ethics, and the performing arts through Fordham’s common core curriculum, the centerpiece of our liberal arts education.
We want you to excel in your field—and as a human being.
