Government Relations Advocacy
The NAICU’s Annual Meeting and Advocacy Day is designed to provide briefings on the most urgent policy issues affecting higher education. The next meeting will be held on February 5-8, 2023. Learn more about NAICU Annual Meeting and Advocacy Day.
The CICU Student Advocacy Day will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Registration information will be posted when arrangements have been finalized. The Annual Meeting will be held on March 13-14, 2023.
Voter Registration
Voter Registration is available at vote.org
At vote.org you may also check your registration status, update your information if it has changed since your last registration, and request an absentee ballot if you are not going to be in your home state on Election Day. If you need to update or correct your registration information (i.e., your name or address), complete the voter registration form.
To register to vote, you must:
- be a United States citizen (either by birth or naturalization),
- meet your state’s residency requirements, and
- be at least 18 years old. (Some states allow 17-year-olds to vote in primaries or register to vote if they will be 18 before the general election.)

Census 2020
The Census is an extremely important means of advocacy for every living person in the United States because every person counts and the Census is a tool used to count everyone! There is no citizenship question on the Census. The data gathered is confidential and used to determine where billions of dollars in federal funds are allocated. Federal funding which goes towards public resources such as fire departments, hospitals, schools, roads, and other essential public resources. Census data is also used to decide the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives, and they are used to draw congressional and state legislative districts. The Census happens every ten years by mandate of the Constitution (Article 1, Section 2.)
Fordham University participated in Census 2020, the decennial count of all residents in the United States. Census data is used to determine where billions of dollars in government funds are allocated. The data is also used to decide the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives and to draw congressional and state legislative districts.
