Atinuke (Tinu) Adediran is an Associate Professor of Law at Fordham University School of Law. Her expertise lies at the intersection of race and law, business, social impact, and law and social science. Professor Adediran has published articles and essays in leading law review and peer-reviewed journals, including the California Law Review, Columbia Law Review, Harvard Civil Rights Civil Liberties Law Review, Law and Social Inquiry, Northwestern Law Review, Virginia Law Review, and UCLA Law Review, among others. Her work has also been featured in popular outlets like the Wall Street Journal, Agenda – a Financial Times publication, and Bloomberg Law.
Professor Adediran is currently on an Intergovernmental Personnel Act assignment as Senior Advisor on Racial Justice at the Environmental Protection Agency.
She is also working on a book on how companies use disclosures to construct a race-conscious public image and treat claims of systemic racism in their business as social risk.
Her work has been recognized by awards and grants from the Center for Racial Justice at the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, the Ford Foundation, and the Russell Sage Foundation. Professor Adediran joined the Fordham Law Faculty in 2021 and received the university’s Distinguished Research Award for Interdisciplinary Studies in 2023.
Before joining Fordham, Professor Adediran was the David and Pamela Donohue Assistant Professor of Business Law at Boston College Law School, and an Earl B. Dickerson Fellow & Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago. Prior to entering academia, she was an Associate in the New York office of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, where she represented clients in complex commercial business disputes with a focus on securities litigation and maintained an active pro bono practice. Professor Adediran holds Ph.D. and MA degrees in Sociology from Northwestern University and received her JD degree from Columbia Law School.
