Sahar Moazami is a New York bar admitted attorney with a focus on public interest and international human rights law. They have experience working in local government and the international human rights field focusing on gender equality and inclusion. They currently serve as Assistant Deputy Director in the Legislative Division at the New York City Council where they oversee the work of the Human and Social Services Division focusing on issues such as gender, youth, public benefits, health, labor, education, aging, cultural institutions, and veterans.

Previously, they had worked alongside civil society organizations and coalitions to successfully lead campaigns to push for more inclusive language within official United Nations documents, including resolutions on extrajudicial executions and strengthening democracy, and to create a more inclusive peace and security agenda. Sahar holds a JD from Fordham Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Boston University.
