Urban Plunge Program Details

  • New York City Immersion: Ground students in the lived realities of New York by exploring the Bronx and Manhattan through community voices, local history, and place-based learning.
  • Ethical Community Engagement: Teach students how to engage responsibly with communities by practicing humility, listening, and reciprocity, and by understanding partner work without “saviorism.”
  • Sustained Action at Fordham: Connect students to Fordham’s ongoing civic and service pathways so they leave Urban Plunge with a clear next step and a plan to stay engaged throughout the year.
  • Cohort Belonging and Peer Leadership: Build a strong cohort experience by strengthening relationships between participants and student leaders and creating norms for trust, shared accountability, and support.
