Fashion Week is every day in New York City, a fashion capital of the world.

Fashion is much more than the style trends of the day. The fashion industry is an economic, political, sociological, historical, and artistic force felt worldwide. And it’s going through a transformation. As a Fordham fashion studies major, you’ll get a broad understanding of the world of style in one of the world’s great fashion capitals and at our Lincoln Center campus, which is literally next door to Fashion Week.

This interdisciplinary minor weaves together business, creativity, and social theory to give you a broad understanding the fashion industry. You’ll learn the basics of culture, fashion design and the business of fashion. You’ll study the many new challenges facing the world of fashion, including growth in emerging markets, the rise of new media and social networks, and increasing pressure to develop merchandise that is produced and marketed sustainably.

Our fashion studies program is the only one in New York City situated within a classic four-year university setting. That means you’ll also study philosophy, theology, literature, languages, ethics, science, and the performing arts through Fordham’s common core curriculum, the centerpiece of our liberal arts education.

Program Highlights
