DEI Advisory Council

The Psychology Department’s standing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council is charged to:

  • Utilize, and expand where appropriate, the Fordham DEI Council’s strategic framework to guide a transparent process of inquiry into Department policies and practices,

  • Identify and make recommendations for specific short-, intermediate-, and long-term actions steps regarding barriers and facilitators that impact recruitment, retention and advancement of the Department’s faculty, students, and staff of diverse backgrounds,

  • Identify and make recommendations for specific short-, intermediate-,  and long-term actions steps regarding Department level policies and trends that may negatively impact an inclusive culture and advise on a process to handle such matters,

  • Identify and review curriculum offerings and infusion of DEI principles in the classroom, lab, research, and other departmental space (e.g., meetings, colloquia),

  • Develop and share DEI resources for the Department.

  • Act as a change agent by challenging the status quo and championing DEI principles and practices by recommending policies and practices consistent with DEI that can be reviewed and adopted by the Department.
