Marc Conte
Marc Conte is a professor in the Department of Economics at Fordham University, with a primary research interest in environmental economics. Professor Conte has published papers in the top journals in his field, such as the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists and the Review of Environmental Economics and Policy, as well as in some of the top natural science journals in the world, including Nature. Over his career, Conte has received more than $4 million in support of his research from the Department of Defense, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Environmental Defense Fund. Two of Conte’s papers relating to the economics of climate change were cited in the “2023 Economic Report of the President.” He is a lead author on the forthcoming Biodiversity and Climate Change Assessment commissioned by the United States Department of the Interior. In 2024, Conte was appointed by the New York City Mayor’s Office to the Panel on Climate Change to play a lead role in authoring the panel’s fifth assessment report. In addition to his position at Fordham, Conte occasionally teaches at the Yale School of the Environment. He has been invited to deliver talks at several universities and to share his research with the United Nations and the Environmental Protection Agency.
