Stan Mathabane is a sound designer, composer, audio engineer, multi-instrumentalist, music producer, and DJ based in New York City, by way of Portland, Oregon —the coastal opposite of his birthplace, High Point, North Carolina.

Stan’s work encompasses both the artistic and the technical - sonically shaping stories that span theater, film, dance, virtual/augmented reality, installation, and live performance.

His design has resonated with audiences around the world: at The International Theater of Amsterdam, The Shed, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Public Theater, The Juilliard School, New York City Center, The Tank, The Prague Quadrennial, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Geffen Playhouse, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, Stanford Live, and more.

Recent sound design credits include The Brothers Size (The Shed & The Geffen Playhouse), Minor Music at The End of the World (International Theater of Amsterdam & BAM Harvey), The Seven (Julliard), Ti Jean and His Brothers (Princeton University Theater). Select Off-Broadway credits include On Love by Mfoniso Udofia (MCC Theater), A Thousand Ways [Part I] (The Public Theater – Under the Radar Festival), JAZZ SINGER (Abrons Playhouse Theater), The White Dress (The American Theater of Actors).
