Access the WiFi Network

Use the information below to connect and configure your wireless device. If you need assistance, contact IT Customer Care.

Important message about campus WiFi

The WiFi service, “Fordham,” replaced “Fordham-S” on Friday, January 8, 2021. If you have questions about the new service, including how to access it, please contact Fordham IT Customer Care (ITCC). Also, whenever you suspect there's an issue with campus WiFi, let ITCC know so we can investigate the problem.

All users of Fordham WiFi resources must adhere to the University’s Acceptable Uses of IT Infrastructure and Resources Policy, which is available on the University’s web pages. Certain devices and activities are prohibited from the wireless network. For current guidelines, consult the acceptable use policy for the wireless network.

Fordham University offers three WiFi services

  • Fordham All members of the Fordham community should use this network. Connect to it with your Fordham AccessIT ID and password. Once you’ve been authenticated by the network, you’ll have access to campus WiFi commensurate with your role at the University.
  • FordhamGuest Visitors to campus may use this network. It provides unprotected and insecure access to the Internet, allows basic web browsing, and is limited to Internet-available services. Do not use the network for the exchange of sensitive or personal information.
  • eduroam Visitors from participating institutions in the eduroam network can connect to the eduroam wireless network on any of Fordham’s campuses. Equally, when Fordham University students, faculty, and staff visit participating institutions, they may use this network to connect to the Internet. How to use eduroam.

Note: Fordham's wireless network only supports devices that use a 5 GHz connection. Adaptors are available for students, faculty, and staff with laptops that do not support 5GHz. Contact IT Customer Care if you would like an adapter. (You will need to bring your laptop to the ITCC in order to have the adapter installed.)

        Game Consoles and Media Devices

Fordham University now allows connectivity to the network on all major game consoles and most media streaming devices (i.e. Roku, AppleTV, etc.). These devices are now supported on both the wired and wireless network. Media streaming devices that require a P2P (Peer to Peer) connection between devices on the network, such as Chromecasts, are not supported on both the wired and wireless network.

These devices need to be registered in order to connect. This is accomplished by a simple self-registration process. Steps for connecting and registering your devices are:

        1. Connect your game console or media device to the Fordham wireless network or via wired ethernet cable.
        2. Navigate to your device's network settings and obtain the MAC address (Google it, if you don't know what this is! Or contact ITCC if you need help.)
        3. From a device that is connected to Fordham's wireless network (Fordham) or wired network (residence halls only), navigate to https://www.fordham.edu/enrolldevice
        4. Enter your AccessIT ID credentials, agree to the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and sign in.
        5. Enter the wired and/or wireless MAC address (depending on the connection type) of the device in order to connect to the network.
        6. Select the type of device.
        7. Provide your cell phone number and select your phone provider.
        8. Click on Enroll Device.
        9. Once enrollment is complete, please allow 5 - 15 minutes for the device to connect.
        10. Enrolled wireless devices must remain on the Connect-Fordham-WiFi wireless network.

Customers will be allowed to register up to 3 devices.

Registered devices will remain active for up to one year.

Fordham IT highly recommends the use of the wired ethernet connection in your dorm room (instead of wireless) in order to ensure a more reliable connection.

        Eduroam

Fordham University is a member of eduroam (education roaming), a service that provides encrypted wireless network access at participating institutions throughout the world. Visit Fordham’s eduroam web page for more information and how to connect.
