Ao Li is a set designer working internationally. His recent designs include Kiss (Yale Repertory Theatre), All My Fathers (La MaMa E.T.C), A Summer’s Day (Shanghai Dramatic Art Center), Lucretia (HERE Arts Center), Scraps(The Flea Theatre), Real(The Tank), As You Like It (Columbia University), Waiting for Godot (Alfred University), Where Is My Maple Town (Theatre Row), Tis Pity She’s a Whore (Yale School of Drama), Titus Andronicus (Yale School of Drama) Blind (Shanghai International Arts Festival) among others. His work in visual art has received three solo exhibitions.

Associate design credits include Soft Power (Public Theatre), Indecent (Huntington Theatre Company) and The Orphan of Zhao (Beijing Music Festival). He also assisted on productions including Judgement Day (Park Avenue Armory), Le Nozze Di Figaro (Theatre Des Champs-Elysées), The Rape of Lucretia (Boston Lyric Opera) etc.

He holds an MFA in Set Design from Yale School of Drama and a BFA in Stage Design from Shanghai Theatre Academy.
