Master of Arts in Classics Curriculum

Thank you for your interest in the Master of Arts in Classics. The program has been placed on hiatus and will not be accepting applications at this time.

College-level proficiency in Greek and Latin is expected for admission to the M.A. in Classics.

  • 10 courses must be successfully completed, which may be taken in Greek, Latin, or Greek and Latin.
  • Greek Composition is required for the Greek M.A., Latin Composition for the Latin M.A., and both Greek and Latin Composition for the Greek and Latin M.A.
  • The candidate must demonstrate in a proficiency exam competency in German, French, or Italian.

There is no thesis, but the student must pass written comprehensive examinations in translation and history of literature after completing the above requirements.
