Drawing on a long Jesuit tradition of scholarship on and respect for the world's diverse languages and cultures, we offer a wide range of courses and degree programs aimed at developing your linguistic proficiency and cultural competence in Arabic, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and Spanish, and providing you with solid foundations in Linguistics.

Our study abroad programs, such as Fordham's Semester in Granada and Summer Study in Rome, extensive tutoring services, and lectures, film series, and cultural events, such as the department's distinguished annual Cervantes Lecture, will immerse you in the languages and cultures you’re studying.
