Biography
Osmar (Oz) José Benvenuto is a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley in the Legal & Compliance Division. Oz currently serves as the Global Head of Internal Investigations, responsible for handling internal investigations and regulatory matters. Previously, Oz served as Head of Financial Crimes Risk within the Firm’s Global Financial Crimes group. Oz joined Morgan Stanley in June 2022, after 10 years at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he investigated, charged, and tried a wide variety of complex federal criminal matters. Oz held a variety of leadership roles at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, including serving as Deputy Criminal Chief, overseeing the Economic Crimes, Cybercrimes, and National Security Units, and Chief of the Organized Crime and Gangs Unit. During his time with DOJ, Oz also served as Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorneys General for both the Criminal Division and the National Security Division in Washington, D.C. Following his graduation from Fordham Law School, Oz clerked for the Honorable Kenneth F. Ripple of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Honorable Stephen C. Robinson of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and he then worked as an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell.
