Adjunct Professor of Law

Soumya Sharma is an Adjunct Professor of Law in Fordham University School of Law. Prior to entering academia, she was a senior counsel at Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman) based out of their NY office. She focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, sales of businesses, joint ventures and strategic alliances, with particular emphasis on cross-border transactions. Her practice also includes representing U.S. and non-U.S. issuers and private equity funds in a wide range of public and private M&A transactions (U.S. and multijurisdictional), including stock and asset purchases. Within the corporate finance practice area, Ms. Sharma has represented U.S. issuers in a wide range of primary and secondary capital markets transactions involving debt, equity and other hyrbrid securities. With more than two decades of experience, Ms. Sharma's practice is defined by long-term relationships built on trust, cultural fluency and commercial pragmatism. She was featured in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch from 2021 through 2023 and has held board positions including as a board member in Law 360 Private Equity Editorial Board in 2018. She writes on issues relevant to corporate law including international joint ventures and leveraged dividend recapitalizations which have been published in recognized legal publications such as Bloomberg Law and Lexis Practice Advisor.
