  • Ilene Strauss is a Clinical Associate Professor of Law and the faculty director of the Law School's Legal Writing and Lawyering Skills programs. Ilene teaches introductory and advanced writing and lawyering classes to a broad range of audiences. She is also a founding and supervising faculty member in the Paralegal Pathways Initiative, a program that aims to amplify the voices of formerly incarcerated people by providing them with skill-based legal training.

    Before joining Fordham, Ilene directed and taught in Columbia Law School’s legal writing and moot court programs. Prior to entering academia, she practiced commercial litigation at Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler LLP and Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett LLP and clerked for the Honorable Emilio M. Garza of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
