TIP: You may be able to use the FUTURE Act Direct Data Exchange (FA-DDX) to transfer 2025 federal tax information into your 2027–2028 FAFSA, if eligible.

FAFSA tips/common FAFSA errors for post-baccalaureate students

  • Select “5th yr./other undergraduate” as your grade level on the FAFSA
  • When asked if you will be working on a master’s or doctoral degree, you should answer “no.”
  • If you do not meet any independent criteria, you will need to provide parental information on the FAFSA

FAQ

  • Once you have claimed your Fordham account (visit information technology services for instructions), you will be able to monitor the status of your financial aid application through the financial aid portal.

  • You should receive an award offer by email within four weeks of the completion of your financial aid application. A complete application includes responding to requests for any additional information from the Office of Student Financial Services. We require all students to accept or decline their aid and/or loans through the financial aid portal.

  • Visit the financial aid portal to accept, reduce, or decline your awards online:

    • Review award details under “Your Award Information”
    • Click on “Menu” in the upper left corner
    • Read and accept the “Financial Aid Policies and Conditions”
    • Make a decision on each award from "Pending" to "Accept" or "Decline"
  • Federal, state, and university gift aid are only available to students in degree-granting programs, making non-matriculated students ineligible.

  • Students who have exhausted their federal loan eligibility can apply for a private education loan to help finance their education. Private education loans are subject to credit approval.
